Recently Rangelands NRM and Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NB Recently Rangelands NRM and Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) met on Country in Broome to deepen our long‑standing partnership, identify and explore aligned opportunities, and explore new ways of working together strategically. Our discussions focused on aligning our strategic priorities and understanding future project directions across local, Kimberley, State, National and International scales. We also explored how our teams can continue to support each other through two‑way capability, seamless project delivery, and opportunities to collaborate on new initiatives, share resources, and engage proactively with investors and industry to support impactful projects across the Kimberley and beyond. Working together, we’re committed to creating long‑term, meaningful outcomes for each of our organisations, Country and community. Rangelands NRM recently co-ordinated and co-delive Rangelands NRM recently co-ordinated and co-delivered a debris cleanup on Henriette Island in Yampi Sound, working alongside local partners to remove accumulated debris, improve the condition of the island, and reduce risks to wildlife and marine navigation. The project was delivered across 3 days in May, following Rangelands NRM co-ordinated site observations over a period of 6 months. Henriette Island was identified as a priority site within the Mayala Inninalang Aboriginal Corporation determination area, with earlier reconnaissance confirming the type and volume of debris requiring removal. The cleanup brought together 18 participants and four vessels, with teams supporting the safe collection, sorting, recording, transfer and transport of debris for disposal. Rangelands NRM helped co-ordinate the people, equipment, vessels and logistics needed to complete the work safely and effectively in a remote island environment. A sincere thank you to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Tassal, @kimberleylandcouncil, and @mayalainninalang for their contribution, support and collaboration. We also acknowledge the Mayala people, including Rangers, trainees, cultural advisors, trainer and photographer, along with Bardi Jawi vessel support and all project partners involved on the ground. The cleanup successfully reduced hazards to marine wildlife, improved navigation safety around the island, and helped restore the natural condition and appearance of the beach front and bushland. This work also strengthened relationships with Traditional Owners, local users, businesses and service providers in the Yampi Sound area. Ongoing monitoring and continued collaboration will be important to maintain these outcomes and help prevent future debris accumulation across priority islands. Rangelands NRM COO Paul Buckman was honoured to at Rangelands NRM COO Paul Buckman was honoured to attend the ARC Healing Country – Knowledge Sharing Event 2026, bringing together Indigenous endorsing organisations, industry partners, researchers and stakeholders committed to supporting Indigenous-led knowledge and creating meaningful connections. The two-day event provided an important opportunity to engage in conversations focused on shared priorities, challenges and opportunities, while recognising the vital role that Indigenous knowledge and leadership play in caring for Country and building sustainable futures. Thank you to the ARC Training Centre for Healing Country and everyone involved for creating a space that fosters collaboration, respect and learning. It was inspiring to hear diverse perspectives and see the strength of partnerships dedicated to healthy Country, healthy communities and lasting outcomes. The presentations were engaging and deep with knowledge, the storytelling was powerful and moving and the conversations that followed were flowing and will continue past the event.
